Komoot is a navigation app that empowers trail seekers to plan and navigate their adventures.
While they are already popular among outdoor enthusiasts, there is an untapped potential in city dwellers. The idea was to position Komoot as more than just a navigation app - I envisioned it as a friendly guide that could help people break out of their routines and discover new experiences in nature.
I focused on transforming everyday social moments into outdoor adventures.
Using scenarios like turning a regular brunch into a picnic in a hidden park, or converting a coffee catch-up with friends into a scenic fireside chat. Even routine activities like walking the dog could become exciting trail explorations.
The key was finding a balance between familiar city experiences and outdoor activities. Komoot would serve as the bridge, helping users discover these nature-infused alternatives and guiding them to these locations; making nature more accessible and adding an element of adventure to otherwise ordinary social interactions.
